I arrived home about 4pm - decided to stay over in KL yesterday because I was just too tired (lazy!) to drive home to Seremban after the outing with SM.
I opened the door and as usual, the musky smell of the house hits me first. Then I saw a white cat (with grey patches) jumped out thru the window. I forgot to close it last weekend. Oh well. I switched on the fan and wondered how come the fan didn't start moving. Oh no. Must've been the storm that tripped our electricity supply. It happens quite often, so I just went to the switch box and turned on the power supply again. Tadaaaa!!!
Suddenly I noticed - something black and crawling behind me, near the door (I didn't close the door yet because I still had some stuff to take from the car). For a moment I thought it was a rat!!! Ewwww!!! Then I realised it was a little kitten. With eyes still closed, crawling towards the old towel I left near the door to wipe my feet.

It finally managed to get onto the cloth. I daren't touch it for fear the mommy cat wouldn't want to go near it. I'm not experienced with cats. Thank God I didn't step on it!!! Imagine that! I totally missed it when I was walking in.

Look! So cute right?

Awww...when it crawled onto the towel, I folded a part up to cover the fella. I don't know if these little ones would feel cold or not, better not risk it.
I was worried the mommy cat won't come back, so I spent time thinking of how to make sure that she'd find her kitty when she does. I didn't want to leave the window open anymore because I want to watch TV and I also fear that because I'm in the hall, she wouldn't come thru the window to get her kitty anyway. So I placed the towel+kitty into a box and left it outside on our chair. I didn't open the sliding door because I didn't want the cat to see me but I put the curtains one side so I could see if the kitty was in danger or not. I left it on the chair so that nothing would walk over it or something.
After a while the cat came back. It sat outside the window, staring at it. So
bodoh one. Or is it because she couldn't smell her baby?
Aiyorr...how? So I went out but by the time I opened the door, she fled. I couldn't even pacify her to come back when I made as if I had some food for her.
This time, I placed the box on the floor, under the chair...then went inside to wait again. The cat did come back and still stared at the window. Felt like knocking the cat's head.
After a long while, she seemed to notice there's something in the box (perhaps she saw the movement of her kitty) - she approached the box cautiously. Finally!!! She saw her kitty!!!
*wipes off sweat*
Was so relieved to see her carrying her baby and going off to wherever she feels is safe for her litter. I am guessing that when I was carrying my things out of the car, the cat started "transferring" her kittens but didn't get the last one in time. Either that or she really only had one kitten. Am glad kitty is okay.
After all that drama, I finally got into the kitchen. It smelt funny. I just waved it off thinking that because everything was closed up for a whole week. The second time I went into the kitchen - then I realised! Oh shooooooooooooot! The things in the fridge!!! GARGH!!
Everything went bad. And mouldy. And stinky. Not a pretty sight. I had to throw out all the food in the freezer, the fridge. Anything wet, it has gotten mouldy. Yuck. Although it's not a lot of food, but it's my "survival" food, kinda thing. Sausages, nuggets, luncheon meat, chicken meat. How would I make my pasta now? How to spruce up my instant noodles? Huh? *sigh*
I daren't "re-stock" for fear of the same thing happening if it rains again during the week. I guess will wait for mom to come back - then let her decide what she wants in the fridge.
